An Exraordinary Journey to “Nowhere”: From Mexico to Tophane (via Emirgan)
Renowned Mexican contemporary artist Carlos Clausell turned a wooden house in Emirgan overlooking the Bosphorus into his studio for the past two months to produce a series of exceptional paintings for his upcoming exhibition entitled “Nowhere” opening on November 30, at Artane Gallery in Tophane. Clausell, who is the grandson of the famous Mexican painter Joaquin Clausell, explains that he was heavily influenced by the surroundings, sounds, and the light of his temporary Istanbul studio as he was painting. The result is a collection of colour-rich paintings which reflect the intensity of Latin emotions mixed into the tranquility of the Bosphorus.
