CARLOS QUINTANA
Born in Cuba in 1966, Carlos Quintana is one of the most important modern artists of Cuba. His work reflects an irrepressible urge to express his inner world and feelings.
In Quintana’s world, nothing is as it seems. He uses a metaphorical language full of his own secrets and forms which are focused on gestures. His paintings are explosive, seductive and abrasive but whatever happens it is impossible for the viewer to avoid reacting to his work.
His work is where east and west, avantgarde and traditional, modern and postmodern are mixed and hybridized. His style can be seen as methodical although his paintings have a uniform format and the same underlying meaning; every piece in his painting is like a new page in an unfinished book. He has had many solo and collaborative exhibitions in Europe and America.
